"Eleanor, Great insight!!  And thanks for the wok tip. You need to be on a show and give your tips!! Rachel Ray?"  Rachel, Parentdish.com

“I think that the key to marketing to individuals like myself is to emphasize the fact that it is easy, it takes less than 15 minutes to prepare a gourmet meal, it is healthy, and there is little to no clean up.  Plus, you do not have to “know” how to cook.”  Avier

“I decided it was time to get healthy...so I'm especially excited because I know I have a whole new approach to vegetables, one that I like much better than steaming. I so needed a way to really embrace eating vegetables. If most people don't buy the right tools they won't have much success.”  Babette, artist

“I'm a bachelor and frequently eat fast food and make other not so healthy eating choices.  I've impressed dates and kept it healthy at the same time.  This Wok rocks...soon, I'm sure I'll be able to Wok just about anything edible. Truly, one of the best purchases I've made.” :-)... Steve

“Thank you for introducing us to a new way of cooking. It will no doubt inspire us to eat new foods and climb out of our "what's for dinner?" routine.”   Audrey

“Yippee!  My lovely wok kit arrived, organized cooking here I come. Thank you for more family time, as well as healthy, quick meals.”  Lesley

"I liked your website and your explanations about the products, etc.  I've always wanted to try making more Asian style cooking, but knew that I needed the right equipment."  Susan

"I am anxious to get the Wok Star Kit and begin!  I went to an oriental supermarket today with some success, but probably more after I see your videos and all.  Healthier eating is a goal too."  Thanks, Pam

"I have received my kit and I am so pleased specially the dvd cooking class.   I can’t wait to start cooking...Thank you again..." Jeanne, Australia

"Other web sites offered many many utensils and I didn't know what I needed. My wife can't cook much anymore and I have never cooked. I wanted a relatively fast and simple way to learn to cook. Plus, I just love to try new and different things. You also give instruction discs! I don't have to try and figure it out by myself . . . you can teach me. Your kit seems to be what I was looking for. I'm looking forward to using it. My experience should be interesting from an engineer, inventor and someone who hasn't ever cooked before :) " Dave

I’ve taught thousands of people this intuitive, liberating and improvisational approach instead of following a set of directions from a recipe.  My style of cooking appeals to a wide range of people from busy professionals and moms to single guys who like to show off to their dates and at the same time keep it healthy!

For those who think cooking dinner is stressful or a chore, this approach will transform mealtime into a fun, creative and pleasurable experience EVERYDAY!   For those who enjoy cooking, you’ll
discover new flavors and techniques.  For those with no cooking experience, you will love this foolproof method.  Many tell me it has changed their whole mindset towards cooking and eating.

Wok Stars, like Rock Stars, love to express themselves, show off their skills, and be recognized for their creations. I put together my Wok Star Kit to provide you the tools and techniques you need to get started. You can be a Wok Star too!

“What’s a Wok Star?”

“I don’t like

eating alone.”

Your REAL friends will appreciate getting together over simple meals.  Show off your wok skills and invite them to cook with you.  Stop pressuring yourself to “entertain” with big dinner parties. When I lived in England, my sister and I got together once a week to share a steamed fish with whatever vegetables were fresh and seasonal from the local street market. Visit TIPS for fabulous meal ideas.

“I don’t want to cook “special orders” for my kids.”

Parents tell me I’ve opened a whole new world to them.  They discovered kids don't like bland, boiled, soft, mushy veggies but LOVE colorful, crunchy textures and most importantly, they like FLAVOR!  There’s no need to deceive or sneak veggies a la Jessica Seinfeld and Missy Chase Lapine. (See “Cooking with Kids”).

Sept.22-27 is Unmarried and Singles week, a Wok Star class is a great way to meet people.  Check CLASSES for my October schedule.

Here are recent classes at some new and beautiful venues who host my Wok Star classes in S. Florida:

Hollywood Vine, I had people coming from out of town with many health professionals from organizations like Humana.  Sunday classes seem to have a more leisurely feel.

The Grateful Palate, I offer free cooking classes to adoptive parents of Asian children. When I was a teenager in Hong Kong, I volunteered at an orphanage and made a vow that I’d help Asian orphans.  Now, I have a perfect opportunity - wok cooking helps preserve their heritage and makes dinner a fun, healthy and creative family activity.  Denise (far left) is mother to two Asian girls, she appreciated all the tips especially not to use a non-stick wok!

MiaCucina, don’t you love those red cabinets?  What an eclectic mix of people from a news publisher to pediatrician to a mediator.

Naked Grape Wine Bar, two more adoptive parents of Asian kids, Hollis and Lynne, joined us for a class at a great new wine bar.  The young lady in the front row is 8 year old Sophia who attended with her mom, Maritza.  Sophia is a real entrepreneur (she makes and sells “flower pens”).  Many people went shopping right after the class and cooked the same night!  Wok Stars in the making...

My simple approach to cooking came about because I was sent to boarding school and became homesick for my mother’s cooking.  I promised myself I’d learn to cook like her.  But learning from my mother was difficult as she never used recipes or measured anything.  Later, I realized this was the best way to learn as it forced me to develop my sense of taste, smell, and sight.

When I started giving cooking classes, I adapted my Mom’s traditional methods to a modern lifestyle. The challenge to simplify the cooking process while maintaining authentic flavors resulted in what I call my NO recipe, NO measuring, NO calorie counting technique.

Some of my fondest childhood memories involve food, cooking with my mother and sisters in the kitchen or the conversations with family and friends around the dinner table.  There is nothing more enjoyable and cozy than eating at home plus it’s so much cheaper and healthier (you never know what they’re putting into your food).       You’ll also realize cooking good food is not that difficult when everything is at your finger tips.

Hi, I'm Eleanor Hoh, I call myself a "Wok Star" so as not to be confused with a “celebrity chef”.  My focus is easy, delicious, healthy, homestyle, weekday dinners prepared in a cast iron wok!  Calling myself a “Wok Star” is not bragging... anyone can be a Wok Star!  And I'm going to show you how with the right wok, the right “wok hei” (high heat), and the right stir fry technique, all in my Wok Star Kit.

Care and Feeding Of Your Wok
This video is from the Wok Star DVD and includes some tips on how to take care of your wok so it will last a lifetime.

I’ve tried to make this site informational.  I hope you’ll enjoy your time on my site and learn something new by exploring the videos and tips.  But if you’re in a hurry, here’s the “big secret” that will solve most of your stir-fry problems...

The key elements of a successful stir fry are:

•  A Good Wok
                                                                       •
High Heat
                                                                       •
Technique
                                                                       •
Quality Ingredients

Having a few friends over for a simple BBQ Hoisin ribs and pineapple, mango salsa is no big deal.  Everyone brought something and pitched in to help. Big flavors with time to enjoy friends.

Here are my solutions for the most
common complaints I hear about cooking...

“I don’t have enough time.”

My approach is to create delicious,  “weekday” dinners in under 30 minutes (this has become quite popular as evidenced by Rachel Ray and Martha Stewart's "everyday" food magazines.)  My philosophy of “maximum flavor with minimum effort” is demonstrated on a 3-disc set which includes audio podcast cook-alongs as if I’m right in your kitchen cooking with you!

“I don’t enjoy cooking.”

My handy caddy basket organizer keeps your Asian ingredients in one place.  You’ll discover my Squirt, Squeeze, Shake method of dispensing seasonings very liberating and make you look like a pro!  My husband only started cooking after 18 years of marriage, you'll enjoy his amusing "Wok Up and Smell the Coffee" segment on the Wok Star DVD.

“I don’t like washing up.”

Here’s a typical cleanup from our weekday dinners...my 3 lb. cast iron wok takes 15 seconds to wash. The more you use your wok, the more patina it builds up and becomes a natural, non-stick surface. You’ll get a bellyful of laughs from my husband’s tips in “Care and Feeding”, so you’ll avoid all the mistakes when you start. I even uploaded this on Youtube and his viewership has surpassed my “Wok Star” video!
